Among the updates, this nugget:
Fixed a case where a spy stabbing from the front of a player would score a backstab
Thank God they fixed that. Not because it was happening a lot, but because when it did happen, a conversation like this would always occur over teamspeak:
Player 1: “Wha… what the… that was bullshit.”
Player 2: “What.”
Player 1: “That spy… how the hell did he stab me in the back, he was in front of me. How did he backstab me? He was right in front of me but stabbed me in the back.”
Player 2: “Yeah.”
Player 3: “Frontstab.”
Player 1: “Yeah, a frontstab. Nice backstab. That was bullshit.”
Player 2: “Yeah, frontstab.”
Player 3: “Frontstab.”
Player 2: “That happened to me too.”
Player 1: “Like, nice way to stab me in the back somehow even though he was in front of me. That was bullshit.”
Player 2: “Yeah.”
Player 3: “Yeah.”
Player 4: “Do we need five snipers? Five snipers, guys, really?”
Player 5: “What we need is a medic.”
Player 1: “That was bullshit.”
Personally, I could see getting stabbed in the front hurting just as much as being stabbed in the back. If not more so. If I really think about it, I’d prefer to be stabbed in the back than in the front. All my favorite parts of me are in the front.

All my favorite parts of you are in the front too. Err… I just mean you have really pretty eyes. Wait, that sounds worse somehow.

I don’t know if they’ve fixed the big frontstab issue, which is simply that a stab animation that’s started when the target is facing away always counts as a backstab even if they turn around during. The update made it sound like this was one special case where it was always possible.
Robin’s said the solution to the delayed-backstab thing is to make the animation a little faster, and reverse that logic: so all that matters is where they’re facing when it hits. They didn’t do that originally because people got confused when they saw the backstab animation but didn’t score a backstab, but I guess now they’re reckoning it’s even more confusing to get backstabbed in the face.

Unfortunately, the front stabbing issue is still not fixed; I am still getting frontal backstabs just as often as I was before they “fixed” it, and the “wtf that was bullshit” conversations still continue.

The good side of this is that those bugs are even more topics to make comics about, eh? Ways to poke fun at stuff like those.
Also, The Cool Side of the Pillow rings a bell, so does Necro-File… You’re on the Steam Forums aren’t you? :p

One way to look at it is like them stabbing you in the neck.

I actually never noticed frontstabs before. I’ve gotten frontstabbed twice int he last two days.
Once was clearly impossible lag-wise. I was backing up facing him and my class was the same speed as his. Somehow he backstabbed me without me stopping or otherwise getting behind me at all.
