I’ve got good news and bad news.
First, a couple of sources have reported the truth of Portal: Still Alive, the “X-Box exclusive” Portal add-on. PC gamers were in a tizz thinking they might have been blacklisted from this new content by Valve’s suddenly evil overlords; however, it’s been revealed that the new content is not-so-new. If you recall, the makers of the 2D Flash version of the game released a 3D map pack of all their 2D levels a while back. That’s what Still Alive is. So, while it’s nice that X-Box users are getting additional content, but it’s really nothing new to us PC peeps who already have access. Ah, well.
For the good news, I now point you to Tom Francis’ entry on some new revelations and gameplay videos for Spore. Watch all the videos: they’re great and show a lot of new gameplay elements we’ve never seen before. Plus, we were thinking there were but a handful of Spore creation utilities: creatures, spaceships, plants, buildings, etc, but there are close to twenty of them, including a music editor.
That is pimp. And scary. I mean, we’ve seen hundreds of horrifying dong and testicle creatures, prepare yourself for the musical equivalent.

Thanks a lot for that update; this has quickly become one of my main sources for game-related news since all my .rss feeds got killed.

Cool stuff, as always. It is interesting to think that you can have all that much control over a game. Wow.
Also, Steam tells me that you’re playing Oblivion. Nondrick…?

Dude, I gotta say, I enjoy having this blog for the good TF2 news and all like that… but are you ever going to do the comic? If not that’s cool, keep doing what you’re doing. But is it ever going to happen?

I loved those videos. Especially when the guy was demonstrating the tribal phase and accidentally encountered a tribe of Yoshis. “Oh, it’s a tribe of… dinosaurs.”

Man, now I don’t even really feel like getting Portal: Still Alive. No new content besides 40 fan made levels? I already have two Half-life 2s, I don’t need two portals.

I like Valve’s attention to the community.
And Spore looks good… too good…

Even if they don’t get paid, they shouldn’t have too much trouble finding jobs (provided they have some college experience).

On the subject of Spore, this is both cool and god damn irritating. The player can get nukes, but the AI can’t, not even on the highest difficulty setting, increasing the difficulty only makes the AI more aggressive. Why not just have anti-aircraft units to stop the nukes (or rather the plane that carries the nuke).

I can’t look at Spore anymore. What has been seen….

We don’t need that comic, we have this blog, which is good enough for me, this and Tom’s blog give me most of the ‘what’s going on in gaming’ news I need.

Thank God; I thought at first the news would be that Still Alive was going to be sports-related. D:

I’m waiting for the Spore/Maya integration they promised us a while back.
A whole new breed of dong monster will be unleashed!
