So, there’s a torrent of Spore’s Creature Creator out in the torrentverse, which I won’t link to because, I dunno, it’s probably illegal or something? I’m not sure. I downloaded it anyway because I was dying to try it, plus, there’s no way in hell I’m not going to buy it when it comes out later this month. I’m sure someone will post a link in the comments, plus it’s mentioned directly over at RPS.
It’s neat. It’s fun. I love it. You can build all sorts of abominations of nature and the game will animate them for you. I put up some of my attempts are creatures in my gallery, right here. EDIT: I’ve replaced the jpgs with pngs, so maybe you can download them and put them in your creature editor?
EDIT: I’ve put my little .pngs in the gallery too. My creatures from the gallery and a couple my wife made.
I also uploaded a video of one dancing around with one of his children, which you can see here.

You know, if you go into yopur spore creation folder, you will see little *.png’s of the creatures you have made. Those are actually the creature files, embedded in pictures. You can post them, and we can download the pictures and just plop them into our creations folder, then we can view the creatures too! :D

over at the empires mod forums, there’s a competition that went from who can make the creature with the biggest appendage, to who can make the creature that looks the most like an appendage, to who can make a creature which looks like people having sex.

The torrent comments say it was taken off of a magazine CD… so is it illegal? I suppose normally you’d have to buy whatever dumb magazine bundled it. But it’s the trial which is being distributed for free tomorrow…

Yeah, some dumbass magazine put it out there before the release date (well they aren’t really dumb cause that means we get the CC early - thanks weird magazine!)
No, it isn’t warez, because it’s free and it is full software, and who the fuck cares, it’s being released tomorrow and it isn’t like they’re losing money.
Can’t wait to get the full version tomorrow

Do you know what the system requirements are for the trial? I’ve been looking around everywhere, but no one has posted anything definite. It doesn’t look too graphics intensive, though.

From what i can tell from the trial the game almost seems worth my money.
I went ahead an made a creature.

Ironically enough, I just found the creature creator myself a few minutes ago before reading this

The PNGs that have the creature data encoded into them are the tiny 25k ones you’ll find in the My Spore Creations\Creatures folder.
I don’t think the PNG versions of the screenshots do. What is kind of cool, though, is that if you take PNG shots of your creature on a black background, they come out on a transparent background in the image, so they look awesome when you embed them in posts and stuff. Games are never this slick when it comes to format standards.
