RPS is having a visit at Valve HQ today and plan to do some liveblogging approximately… now. Get over there and get refreshin’!(corrected link)
Apparently, their main topic is going to be Steamworks, which is… I dunno, I’m sure it’s an amazing tool for those of you who release games, but I don’t release games, I play games. I want some TF2 skinny. I want some L4D news. I want some Portal 2 dope. I want some Episode 3 poop. Here’s hoping.

Craig’s out there for us. From the e-mail it sounded like this trip would be about the changes they’re making to Steam in time for Left 4 Dead: party system, one-click matchmaking, etc.
Agree about Steamworks. Its release is an exciting development, but anything further about it is very ‘industry’. I still have a copy of Edge whose cover is “XNA: Microsoft End The Console Wars”. It should have read “XNA: No Matter How Important It Turns Out To Be, You Will Never Hear Of It Ever Again”.

lol, I can’t see steamcloud being all that needed for people. Still very interesting, thanks.

Well, it’s nice that Steam lets you download your game onto any computer you want, and now you can also access your saves at the same time. I don’t personally play games on more than one computer, but for those who do, it sounds like a nice feature.

If they started at 10.15pm GMT they’re sure taking their time to actually blog.
Or Gabe did confiscate his Eee :P

Highlights so far:
- Meet the Sniper will be next.
- Steam’s rumored forthcoming online save game and config service was confirmed and dubbed Steamcloud. (IE: Save games and config files will be automatically uploaded to Steam and downloaded whenever you log on to a different computer so you have your settings with you.)
- Half-Life (original) will be the first game and engine to support Steamcloud, along with Counter-Strike. Left 4 Dead will ship with support for Steamcloud.

Joerdgs: RTFA, the meaty part is over, they’re on Q&A now and updates will only post if Gabe says something interesting.

Oh wait, they posted quite a lot now.

This reminds me how awesome your liveblog was. I think you should definitely do another TF2 liveblog.

How peaceful, ‘clouds of steam’.

Outstanding, more “meet the” films! I’m also glad to hear Valve continuing to be so upbeat about the PC as a gaming platform. Now if only Valve’s partner publishers would stop their stupid, idiotic ‘releasing over Steam but only in the US’ behaviour. Steam is an international platform. That’s one of the primary advantages, damn it!

“The number of connected people we aren’t selling our products to dwarfs the number of console gamers out there.” - Newell
“Doctor, is he? Why, I’ll bet I’ve lost more patients than he’s ever treated!” - Zoidberg
Shame they didn’t talk about any match-making or party-based stuff. I guess with L4D delayed by more than a year in total now, it’s not as imminent. It’s not that I wanted it for, though, it was TF2.
