Bad news, TF2ers: Doug Lombardi has announced to Shacknews that the next update to TF2 will not arrive until next year. He added:
“…we’re going to keep evolving TF2. Once Left 4 Dead wraps, you’ll hear us clamoring more about [the next TF2 update].”
Bummer. On the other hand, with Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, and a bunch of other games with numbers in them coming in the next few weeks and months, there will be plenty for gamers to do in the meantime.
Still, though. Bummer.

I say it’s better off. TF2 is an indeterminate amount of game time, whereas most of the new releases can be put aside once beaten.
Once Fable and LBP, and Dead Space, and Fallout and Gears, and L4D, and Legendary are out of the way, my schedule will be all clear for the new update.

Craaaaaaaap. I’d already come to terms with the fact that the new update wouldn’t conform to the previous roughly-once-every-two-months schedule (or they would have announced it already) but none for at least another two and a half months? Painful.
At least now I have some kind of closure, and maybe won’t need to obsessively check the TF2 development blog every couple of hours for updates.
