I promise I won’t post something about Spore everytime I see something or make something cool, except for right now, because this is too cool for school.  Someone on the SA forums made some wonderful Half-Life critters:

Bullsquid.  Houndeye.  Vortigaunt.

And someone in the RPS community made a headcrab.

Someone else made a Strider.

When the game comes out you could have an entire Half-Life planet!

    I do love that Houndeye, but I’m not bowled over by the headcrab. The limb count seems off. There are loads of great ones here:

    I wonder how EA are going to censor some of the creatures incase kiddies download them. There’s a pretty nasty anal creature already. Surely the only way they could do it is by checking each creature manually that people upload to that sporepedia.

    Yeah, that’s gonna be a task. Maybe they’ll hire a staff just for that. I should send them my resume.

    They could just create a system where users can rate creatures as inappropriate and then people can set it so that creatures that have been marked as such are not placed in their universe.

    I agree with Jonah, I think that would be the easiest way.

    Oogh, I really want to try this out. I’m looking forward to Spore, and would love to get cracking on creating my own little monstrosities.

    But it’s on BitTorrent… Which is probably illegal.

    Did look at the pretty pictures, though - quite looking forward to this Spore thingy. Totally agree wiuth concerns that the having seen other folks imagination at work will make me feel a bit less cool (until I vanquish Planet of the Wangs for the third time - a victor is me)

    There is a trial version of the creator. Its free, from Maxis themselves. It just happens to have 25% of the material as the retail version of the creature creator

    Ehem… That will be named Xen, after the planet wich headcrabs and vortigaunts from half-life come from
