I’m just not. Sorry. I just can’t envision the amount of time and effort it would take to produce another comic, plus, my ideas for 1Fort just aren’t formed enough to even get started, plus I think I just don’t want to in general. I want to do something a bit more strenuous than a “gaming” blog, but I really don’t think it’ll be another comic.
So, there it is. No 1Fort comic. Thanks for sticking around, though, especially if you’ve been coming here in hopes of one day seeing the comic actually appear. It won’t. Sorry.
The blog is staying, though, and I’ll keep working to provide you with second-hand news stories and occasional suggestions for TF2 that Valve will implement without hesitation because they are so my bitches. Plus, if I ever come up with something else to do, I imagine I’ll mention it here.
And no, I haven’t forgotten poor Nondrick. He’ll get an update this week. Fer serious.

You know, when I first linked to this blog from Concerned, I thought it was just that. A blog. Then, like a month later, I found it was to be a comic. Now it isn’t. Sooo… Nothing gained, nothing lost for me!

That’s sad, but really, Chris has to prioritize his attentions and I’m glad he’s upfront with his decision not to continue making comics. As it is right now, I’m more than satisfied with his writing in both this blog and in Living in Oblivion, and see no reason to throw more burden upon him by demanding a regularly updated comic from him.

Eh, I only just found out about Concerned, (and, you know, Valve and its many products in general), so I was curious to see how that Garry’s Mod humor would translate over to TF2—but, eh. A blog that updates regularly with more than just ranting can be more valuable than a webcomic that updates sporadically (I’m looking at YOU VGcats!)
Though…perhaps, the odd hilarious garry’s mod screenshot from time to time would be nice? =/

You don’t have to do a regular comic, you know. Just throw up something on a random schedule. Your regular semi-daily posts will keep people coming back.
No one expects you have to stick to a so-many-a-week format if you just say you’re not going to make it a regular thing.
Heck, you could start with some Motivational Poster/Far Side type one-frame gags.

This probably isn’t a very widely held (or widely liked) opinion, but I was never a very big fan of Concerned, or (if I may be honest) the Half-Life series in general. There was never anything about them (the games) that could hold my interest, and while I admit that a dislike of the series is part of my lack of enthusiasm for the comic, the humour in the comic (that wasn’t related to the series) wasn’t my thing either.
That being said, Team Fortress 2 is one of my favourite games (even if I’ve only been able to play it sporadically, and on consoles at that) and the writing in this blog (about TF2 and otherwise) has been wonderful. It seems a little odd to thank a person I’ve never met for just doing what they enjoy, but I guess I’m doing just that.
I’d also like to thank you for telling off Jordan and doing everyone here (and all your future coments sections/ commentors) a big favour.

This blog fulfills every requirement I’d wanted or hoped from the 1fort comic, so I’m just happy that Chris has the support of many faithful acolytes! Through Chris I’ve managed to discover and enjoy Pentadact, TF2 humor, closed quantum space loops… my only regret is what Marc Laidlaw must be feeling.

I’d really like to see a 1fort comic. No matter how long it takes or how slowly it’s updated. There are a ton of stories out there, hell I have my own huge set of ideas that intertwine nicely and are largely open ended.
Hell I’d love to see Gordan Frohman again. Have him load up in a save or something. Episode 1 and 2 provides just enough content that you could comfortably provide a mini series.
Again it’s your decision and I respect that, it’s still a bit sad to your fans :(

I think you’re asking too much of yourself. You’re afraid that the comic won’t be perfect and hilarious. I don’t know about the rest of the people here, but as for myself, I simply would be glad to see A COMIC every now and then, because I know that you are good at making them.
Of course I don’t know what ideas you have and maybe now they’re not so good, but really - just chill man, and if you ever feel like making a comic - just do it. If not - fine, this blog still is interesting to read.
I just want you to not live by some unwritten rules that if you make a comic, you’ll have to do it regulary and it has to be extremely funny. Do what you feel like doing (just like before) and people will support you.

IMHO, this blog and Nondrick’s Non-Adventures provide enough lulz for me. Really.
Like many others, I forgot that this blog was actually started as a precursor to a comic. But the blog itself became so awesome that the comic was actually sidelined. So, for now, that RSS feed is staying on.

I first came here in anticipation of a TF2 comic back in February, but as May came along and at some point you posted an apology about not having started the comic, I was surprised: I had forgotten all about it while reading your posts about all things TF2 (and other stuff).
Of course I’m sorry to hear that there won’t be a comic, having enjoyed Concerned so much, but since you provide such quality blogging, I think I would be more disappointed if you had decided to stop writing this blog (or LiO).
So screw the comic, and thank you for writing the first gaming-related blog I have ever bothered to read and regularly check back for more. Don’t stop.
And now I’ll go back to lurking, just wanted to say my thanks.

Chris, you said you wanted to do something bigger than a blog, but smaller than a comic. That’s cool. Instead, make a mod. Fat Princess looks to be an awesome game, but it’s a PS3 exclusive. Team Fortress 2 shares many common elements with Fat Princess (Classes, team based gameplay, CTF…), so you could create a mod for us to enjoy this quirky, unique game. You don’t even have to try. Instead of fatty princess models, just put the heavy in a wig.
I don’t know much about making comics or mods, but presumably one’s easier than the other, and thus I have a 50% chance of being right.

Yeah, in my opinion, modding is considerably harder than making a comic, then again, i’ve never used GMod (this comp would exlode if i put the haf life 2 disc in the tray) so it’s still a 50% chance i guess.
Besides, i’m guessing that the punchline for 1Fort would be that one of the guy’s is a spy.

I was looking forward to that comic, but no one should ever force themselves to do something humourous. I loved Concerned and I was certainly thinking another comic by you would be just as entertaining.

Oh man, this crushes my soul. I loved Concerned, it was always at the top of my bookmarks. When Chris would ever talk about how it was going to end soon, I felt a soul-crushing sadness. The site’s subtitle even mentioned the eventual death of Froman. Since that day when Concerned died, Chris’ extras page said that he would be updating more constantly. So I continued to visit his site, almost every day to see if there was an update. But for an entire summer, Chris had completely vanished. I was afraid Chris was gone forever. Then one day when I visited the site, I saw the banner for 1Fort. I thought it would be some add, but I clicked on it. Lo and behold, it was Chris promising to make a new comic! My heart started pumping again, and I was finally filled with happiness! Even after he said he was postponing until September, I still had hope and support for Chris.
Now he’s dropped this bombshell. Sure, I liked the other parts of this website, but they’ve always been no more then a distraction, a way for Chris (in my mind) to distract us while we wait patently for 1Fort to come. But now it isn’t coming. And I don’t know if I can wait anymore. I guess what I’m saying is, I think I’m done visiting your blog, Chris. I’ll still read Concerned and Not My Desk over and over, and good luck with whatever you decide to do in the future. Goodbye forever, -Tomical

What a shame.
I recently discovered Concerned and love it. I am sure this would have been awesome too. But I can also understand where you are coming from. I used to write and did a fictional story (not on fictionpress or anywhere like that) for a very long time. After I finished I said I would be making another but after a long time of delaying I decided not to as I didn’t have the inspiration.
:D Although, as The Prick of Destiny said, When I release my very own TF2 comic I won’t have to worry about accidently ripping you off! I was a bit afraid of that. I have pleanty of inspiration and the only thing holding me back for now is posing skills. I’m working on it though ;)

How DARE you refuse to co-opt your life to deliver me at least 200 more episodes of a free comic that you have no real hope of profiting off of because it is using properties copyrighted by someone else?
