RPS reports that Lord of the Rings Online will be opening Moria.
Y’know, I played LOTRO for maybe a month or so. I liked it enough. MMOs aren’t really my thing — I don’t care for the click-n-hope combat, the endless chores, and the limited soloing — but I enjoyed running around Middle Earth, looking for celebrities, growing and smoking pipeweed, and and taking vacation photos. Here I am at Weathertop! Rivendell is nice this time of eternity.
Also, I was a pie-eating champion. And some guy gave me his pants.
I thought they did a great job with the atmosphere and look of the game, and any LOTR fan would enjoy just visiting familiar locations like Bag End and the Party Tree, the Prancing Pony or Bree, and it’s hard not to get a little tingle of excitement seeing Sam Gamgee or Aragorn, or even some of the minor characters from the books.
So, when I hear Moria is opening, I sort of think I might renew my account for a month and have a look around. I didn’t like the gameplay in LOTRO, but I sure liked the game.

I’m not a fan of RPGs myself, but I love looking at the landscapes. They’re awesome.

Yeah, I find that the sights are the best bit of MMOs. I liked Guild-wars because it was pretty, and the game play was fun as well (in that it actually required a lot of thought and tactics and less luck. If you missed it was because he moved out of the way for example).
