Tom Francis, son of Thrain Francis, son of Thror Franics, King Under The Mountain, talked to Robin Walker in mid-Februrary, and that interview is now up and ready for readin’.
IGN also talked to Robin Walker, who revealed some more possible upcoming TF2 stuff, such as a potential unlockable medigun that, rather than granting ten seconds of invulnerability, grants ten seconds of 100% guaranteed critical hits. Great Zombie Jesus.
There’s also some new info on planned medic achievements and details about Goldrush. Read that interview it here.

Plenty of servers already have 100% critical hits, and it actually still takes a helluva lot of those damn shots to bring someone down.

Man. They keep coming out with ideas that I’d thought of, then dismissed as ridiculous without properly considering. I had basically that thought process about unlockable items before they’d announced what the ‘large-scale change’ was, and now the 10-sec crit frenzy.
As soon as they come from Valve instead of my own head, I assume they’re essentially sound and start to actually consider the possibilities, whereupon they become really exciting.
I’d actually rather get pwned by a Heavy spewing crit-shots for ten straight seconds than the odd lucky rocket, because at least I know the Medic earned that advantage, and consciously decided to deploy it at that time.
But it does rather add to the Medic’s “Wow, look at all the fun my patient’s having and I’m not” factor.

True, but at least it might give the medic a few more patients to choose from. I don’t like to ubercharge anyone but a pyro, heavy, or soldier, but an engie with a shotgun or a sniper with a machine-gun, throwing crits for 10 seconds?
Not a bad option, really. Even a critted-out needlegun would be pretty effective. A Scout’s bat, throwing all crits, would be brutal. So at least a medic at 100% might not have to wander around desperately seeking a partner anymore.

Imagine something like double charge like 1 medic could player invulnerable and second would assure
100% of crits that would be brutal

Gotta love the tags.
And thanks for the update.

Just read that article on IGN before I came here. I think it sounds really interesting and sure Valve wouldn’t release it unless they’ve playtested it properly. (That’s also why Robin didn’t give any deadlines when asked to!)
Basically, I love that needlegun when playing Medic and 100% crits would be totally awesome. :D!

Cool, I want to see some hardcore needle-crits.

Awesome. I might actually play as a medic now.

They say the Ubercritter (as I’ve just decided it should be called) is the one they’re currently playtesting, so I think it’s probably going to make it.
They sneakily reveal in that interview that the first batch of Medic unlocks will be three, not two as previously claimed. They also say there’ll be one for each of his weapons, but it’s not clear if they mean in the first release, in which case it’s one of each, or just eventually, in which case we already knew that.
I hope it’s the former - that would mean a new Bonesaw sooner.

i think a great unlockable for the medic would be able to use the uber on yourself and be able to switch weapons!
that way you could run around needling and bonesawing while invinc for 10 secs.
