1Fort Server & Gift Giveway News

March 14th, 2008 · 15 Comments · 1Fort Server Stuff, Gaming

Well, the 1Fort server is up and appears to work, but for whatever reason I am unable to admin it from inside the game. My rcon_password just doesn’t work, and I haven’t really had time to get into it with tech support. I’ll see if I can get it straightened out by next week.

I’m locking the HL2 & Ep 1 giveaway thread, so nuts to you if you didn’t get your e-mail in on time. I’ll randomly pick the winner(s) this weekend and send out e-mail(s) to notify and make sure whoever it is definitely wants the game(s).

That’s probably it until Monday on the blogging front, so have a nice weekend. I’ve got three more entries ready to go in the Oblivion blog next week, so there’s that to look forward to if you look forward to those.

Uh, so is it up? And if so, what’s it called and what’s the password?

Chris, I went through hell and back to get a copy of Oblivion, at the full price of $60 (collector’s edition, y’know. Has a coin! And a pocket guide. Good bathroom reading, that). So I hope this game is the experience you’ve painted it to be. If nothing else at least I’ll have your entries to look forward to.

CitrusFreak you best have got it for PC, for the game is 500% better with mods.

    Rcon tips:

Leave rcon_address alone, as long as you’re connected to the server you want to rcon there’s no reason to touch it. Only if you wanna rcon when you’re in another server or not in any server would you change it.

Obviously you must set rcon_password on the server as well as the client! Maybe you forgot once? >_>

Quick way to test rcon is “rcon say D:?”. It should show a teamless player called “Console” speak for all to hear.

As much as I dislike some of the admin mods out there, some do have useful options like voting and such, and you might find them easier to use than just using rcon. Something else to try while you’re testing out user-levels I guess. :p

Also forgot to ask what Shane ALMOST did… what’s the IP?

Looking forward to get completely destroyed by all of you. Also any idea when you are going to give us the password and IP.

Check routers and settings on server and client, rcon uses another port than 27015/27005 IIRC. Otherwise, install some admin mod of some sort.

What chris hears: blah blah blah router blah blah IP blah blah need a beer

Tom: Of course! That’s why it was like pulling teeth trying to find a copy at EB Games.

The problem is, I’m not sure the mods Chris mentioned are working on mine. The main quest delayer, yes. But I’m not sure about crowded roads (I’ve only encountered bandits and the odd guard on a horse), and I haven’t noticed any discernible negative effect by not eating. And I’m still not sure how to activate the main quest or how I’ll know when it’s activated. But it’s still fun! I just wish I knew whether I was doing it right. (I’ve updated oblivion to the latest patch, if that means anything.)

To CitrusFreak, you may want to play the game without mods the first time, just so you can appreciate the game for what it is, and so that you can know what affect mods are actually having on your game.

You forgot to tell us the server-ip and your usual amount of about 3 tags per post ^^
I can’t wait to get fragged by Mr. Frohman!

  • 13 Tales // Mar 16, 2008 at 1:47 pm

No tags, Chris? I’m disappointed. They’re 97% of the reason I read this blog.

Silly Chris and his silly habits of being silly.

    IP: 8.6.9.212

I have no idea what the password is though.
